Now... Story Time!
There is a reason I chose to do this recipe. This recipe has been in my family for generations. I have been eating this for as long as I could eat solid foods and it has always been my favorite. Anytime I have had a long day, I can call my grandma to make it for me and it makes everything better; as crazy as it sounds. But, I remember a certain experience I had one night at the dinner table while eating this meal. One night, I think I was about 3-5 years old, and I remember sitting in my chair while my parents talked about my "d-a-d-d-y." The reason I say it like that is because my father was never involved in my life so my grandparents and mother never said the word "daddy" or "dad" out loud around me when talking about him. Until this day, I never knew what they were saying, but little ole me sat in that chair that night and looked at my mom straight in her eyes and said the word "daddy". From that point on, I knew exactly what they were talking about. However, I was not stuck on the meaning behind it, I was just so excited that I finally decoded the grandma-mom code. After I said the word, they sat me down and talked to me about everything and told me how he left my mom before I was born. I did not care because I knew I had my grandparents and mom to reply on for anything and everything. When I tell you that I really did not care, and still to this day do not care, I mean it! After that, we somehow ended up having a talk about going to heaven. I then asked me mom if I could eat in Heaven; and not only did I ask if I could eat in Heaven, I asked if Heaven had buffets... and that was the day that I realized I did not need a man in my life- only food.
(Yes, this was intended to be funny... not sad!)
